It was not until the 1970′s that females were able to compete in body building competitions and contests. Until this time it was only men that were able to compete, especially with the added requirement of lifting heavy weights to build more muscle. As well as the appearance that was achieved when body building, it was just not even thought of that women would be able to compete competitively.

Men and women are built totally differently, femake and male bodies react in different ways when exercising or any type of body building is involved. whether your a man or a woman body builder, the same thing is needed. An iron will, discipline and massive amounts of determination. However, a womens metabolism is totally different to that of a males and a females energy output is a lot lower than that of a male.

Also a females muscle growth is so different to that of a mans, that a more complex body building programme is needed. Some professional women body builders have encountered many problems whilst training to be a body builder. Problems such as hair loss, missing their monthly cycles on a regular basis and stretch marks. These are not untreatable conditions, so should not be a major cause for concern.

Bosy building is not an easy profession for either sex, it takes so much hard work and determination to keep looking great all the time and not just for competitions. Diet has to be extremely strict and exercise and rest have to be practised in equal amounts.

Once the desired body has been achieved, this is when the major work and maintenance begins, which will last for the rest of your life. Muscle building is a lifetime job for men or for women. You can not just simply stop body building after you have achieved the look that you wanted. Maintaining your body when your a body builder is at times harder than achieving one.

There will be good times and bad times through body building whether your a female or a male body builder. Try and keep yourself focused on your targeted goal, and keep your self motivated and determined to succeed and you surely will.

Eat right and exercise for the rest of your life as this is a life long commitment whether your a female body builder, or a male one.
