Hypnotherapy As A Means To Manage Stress

August 5, 2010 · Filed Under Health and Fitness · Comment

Estimates show that about three fourths of us are subjected to stress at least once every two-week cycle. And about three eighths – about 40 percent – of the general population go through moderate to extreme stress once a week! In short, a good percentage of the world is under stress. The sad truth is that stress is as sure as the sun rising for a lot of us. Miscellaneous factors at home and work are great contributors to daily stress. The recession has caused a lot of Westerners to consider work in particular as a major stress factor. However, there are several ways that are useful in eliminating stress.

A number of medical issues can be brought about by unhealthy doses of stress. Also, stress affects the crucial immune system and reduces the chance of fighting off other illnesses and infections. If not taken care of, these examples show that stress can lead to grave medical issues and can even be fatal. Assistance in alleviating stress could go a long way in extending one’s life and improving one’s health.

Aside from the conventional means, hypnosis is a good way to minimize stress. Hypnosis works at the mind and tries to get to the root of the stress. With the help of confidence building and positive statements, hypnosis aims to help the client exit the session energized and motivated. This would include hypnotists asking their clients to envision themselves without stress. Following the session, the desired effect would be a happy client walking away 100% stress-free. Many have given positive testimonials to the power of hypnosis.

The first step in the hypnotic process is to put the client in a relaxed, even sleeping state. Once the client is in this comfortable state, this is where the hypnotist opens the mind to new ideas and positive suggestions. The positive thoughts would then lead to a more specific series of perspectives, this time dealing with stress management. Further expounding on the topic, the client will be asked to return to his or her job or family with a more positive outlook. This would lead to more happiness and better physical health.

A lot of people who have undergone hypnosis can say it has helped their confidence and improved their lives. If the usual methods don’t work, then we strongly recommend hypnosis to beat stress. It would be a good idea to check your local listings for a qualified hypnotist or hypnotherapist. Relieving stress is just one of the many ways hypnotism can change your life for the better.

Some tips to control stress.

Count to 10.

Mother tells her children this when they become angry. It is very effective.

Next time you feel stressed or recognise the early signs of it, count to ten. It does not matter if you do it loudly or quietly.

Sometimes this is all you need for simple stress or if you recognise it early.

Many prefer to count down instead and as they count down to zero, it feels as if their stress is slowly going down.

Take a deep breath.

Inhale taking deep long slow breaths. Breathe in slowly through your nostril filling your lungs. Hold your breath to the count of four. Then slowly exhale through your mouth.

As you continue to do this a few times, you will notice as your breathing becoming slower, you feel yourself becoming more and more relaxed. Like counting, this is a quick and easy stress controller.

In addition,  as you breathe in and hold your breath, you create a picture in your mind of all stress slowly diffusing into your lungs and when you breathe out, you are slowly expelling the stress leaving you more relaxed and calm.

You can also use a stress relief squeez ball.

Get up and walk about.

This is a good way to gain stress relief quickly.

When the task is very stressful, get up and walk away from it. I do not mean walk away from it for good. You are removing the problem temporarily. You now have time to come to grips with is as you calm down.

By doing this you are removing a stressful problem from the forefront of your mind and allow your Subconscious Mind to find solution options. The eponymous Morgan Stanley, when stuck with a problem and no solution, would suddenly drop what he was doing and play a game of solitaire. After a while several ideas come forwards in his mind.

A walk in the park is a good idea. Being near to nature is very relaxing. Your body’s frequency synchronises with the earth’s frequency. As your brainwave level slows down you enjoy tranquillity and peace. You become relaxed and calm. You can get the vacuum cleaner out and clean the house. Put the problem out of your mind. You will be surprised how different you feel about your task in front of your.

In addition exercise relieves stress.

It is recognised that exercise reduces stress.

Write a Journal or talk to someone.

This is a good stress buster. You are sharing your problem by talking to someone. If that someone is experienced in your field, you may get some invaluable tips. A wider approach to your problem develops. It may feel, by sharing your problem, you are no longer isolated. You are not alone.

A single thought or idea that could be the solution to your problem, is perhaps the best stress buster. Suddenly you become energised and focussed because you can visualise the successful outcome. Your stress will changes to the desired stress that produces maximum efficiency.

Writing a journal is good for relieving stress. It anchors what specific things are stressing you. Transferring it into words on paper means you can either keep or discard. It releases the stress. If you have no one to talk to or you are alone with a stressful problem, write it down in your stress journal. Ink on paper is the next best thing.

Fight or Fright Reaction and Stress.

Lets look at three different scenarios.

Recession is making life difficult for a sales rep. The last three months sales were disastrous. He is about to meet an important, big new client who could be his saviour. Success will decide whether he still has a job or not.

A man is madly and desperately in love with this attractive and popular woman. To him there is no future without her but there are other men trying to attract her attention. The table is set for two, the ring is in his hand and the red roses lie near by. Any moment she will knock on the door and he will ask her to marry him and he does not know whether she will say yes or no.

A woman walking home alone late at night. The street is dimly lit. Suddenly she hears footsteps ahead of her. A group of people wearing hoodies is walking towards her. She now hears footsteps behind her. She turns around to see a group of youths walking towards her.

In all three situations a person becomes very alert and focussed even though potential danger is only in one of these scenarios. This is the fight and fright reaction.

This is a reaction in humans and animals that developed a long time ago to protect us from life threatening dangers. In this reaction, the brain triggers the release of the hormones adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisone. These hormones cause a remarkable change in the body.

The breathing becomes faster and deeper, the heart speeds up, the pupils dilate, the mouth becomes dry, the skin becomes cold and clammy and hairs on the back of the neck stand up.

You may even want to vomit, open your bowels or urinate. This is the brain trying to make you lighter and move faster during ‘flight’.

The fight or fright reaction prepares the body for action. You become alert and aware. All your senses are sharpened. Your sense of smell, sight and hearing are all sharpened. Your body is now functioning at it optimum.

Your heart, beating faster pumps more blood to the brain and the muscles. By breathing faster and deeper, more oxygen is transported by the blood to the muscles and brain. In addition blood is temporarily diverted from other important organs such as the gut, the kidneys and the immune system to enable more blood to the muscles.

. The only problem, however, is that the brain cannot differentiate between real and percieved dangers or threats. The reaction is the same.

The fight or fright reaction is triggered in all three scenarios.

Panic attacks are severe episodes of the fight or fright reaction and, during an attack, to the individual the threat or danger is very real. Rationality suddenly disappear and there is no where to run to or no one to fight.

In stress, the fight or flight reaction is triggered even thought there is no threat to our lives and can be harmful to the body. Persistent stress caqn cause disease.

Understanding how the fight or fright reaction is triggered in stress will help you make some sense about the symptoms of stress you experience with stress.

Michael’s Death Hurts So Bad,You Wanna Crack Down On Legal Drug Peddling

September 17, 2009 · Filed Under Health and Fitness · Comment

Passages from The Bible flood in automatically to fill the void left by all the questions and half answers left in my heart as a result of the sudden passing of  Michael Jackson.

I never got the chance to meet this cat, nor the opportunity to get to know him personally and as a musician, this legend  was a great inspiration in his performances, to a whole generation  of pop musicians. He was huge then and may be more in his death: but that is not the focus of this essay.

Am I My Brother’s Keeper Even When There Is A Lot of Money to Be Made? This is not a question for only the health care providers but for everybody in business. Let us agree that It is a challenge when your whole career as a health care giver is suddenly shoved under the spotlights. Your whole future is suddenly basking under the glory of a mega star.Great.

Michael Jackson’s sudden death  raises a common question that concerns all of us. Do people locked up in client doctor confidentiality agreements always know what they are doing? We live in a world where more clients now make more money than their doctors. Rich Patients can now hire or fire “professional medical help“just at the snap of a finger. These types of patients have got to a place where they can choose and even organise medical teams, and orchestrate medical procedures with doctors coming from different jurisdictions and countries .Consumer-driven health care is the future of the the Medical Industry..

How can we apply “I am my brother’s keeper” when you risk to lose a patient who thinks he or she knows what they want? That is a question that should be reserved for the doctor’s conscience. It looks like nothing is sacred nowadays in America, when the Health system is now being marketed as a product?

I believe the passage i chose from the Bible is addressing both our human and physical  intellectual wares and should remind us of a few fundamental truths about ourselves. We have become smart and arrogant and have found all kinds of ways at outsmarting the laws protecting the integrity of our “medical help” systems in place. This is for both Buyers and Sellers of health services.

In Isaiah 64:6,the Bible says “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousness are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.”
Time for some quick answers.

Abuse of prescription drugs, doctor client privacy privileges and you in the middle.Do you really feel protected even if it were you who kept ordering the drugs against your doctor’s wishes? In all Client and Vendor relationships we all know the things we do to keep our high ticket customers don’t we? One of the facts about ethics is that it is neither a business, social nor political issue. It is about basic human values.

I think the quality of Michael Jackson’s music started a downward spiral the moment Quincy was no more in charge of his music. Right? Bruce Sweden was the one in charge of the sweet sounds in the mixes then what happened?

Suddenly all the songs became drum machine ridden with yelps and all kinds of whacked up moves and stuff. If you doubt go listen to the Quincy era.Greed? Pressure? What if the monkey wrench in the whole equation was a mega star himself having too much power to the point that suddenly, he/she could out manoeuvre around everybody and end up hurting himself? The star now had so much power, you are history when you don’t deliver what he/she wanted.

Ethics?

Yeah right. I wonder how we keep moving in the same direction when nothing seems to be working and the pharmacy bill is $100,000?

$100,000 a month Hotel Suites without a single stinking defibrillator? The one thing that mattered most.

Not the Limos, nor the Business Deals, nor the Beatles Catalogue, nor the smooth media and press image, but just being healthy.

OK you would think a $300 an hour doctor on call should seal the deal and Mr Jackson  still could not make it through the night to read his newspaper in the morning? Come on American Business.

OK, he should have sang “The Girls from Ipanema”, did Opera, challenged the late Pavarotti, taught music at Berklee School of Music and even did Smooth Jazz. Nope. This guy was very focused and probably had bigger fish to fry.

So far as his plastic surgery thing went, it was not only him who was guilty if you think that was a crime. Almost all Americans and people who could afford a nip and a tuck creepingly went under the knives.

Personally, I think he really looked terrific in his new facials with dimples in the right places and all. What’s amazing is how courageous and pure he was. He is a guy who was not afraid of taking risks.

To me he donated his body to fulfill our thirst and love for perfection desired for the perpetual human circus?
