The constant humming, buzzing, swishing and ringing sound also known as the tinnitus sound is not pleasant, and it is not what you want to hear many times in one day. It does not sound like a beautiful melody, nor has the voice of a beloved or even a bird’s happy chirp. With this warning in mind, we will now start our review on medications one should avoid in order to prevent tinnitus from occurring.

The occurrence of tinnitus is known to occur because the cochlea or rather, your vestibular structure has become toxic. This could be mainly because of the antibiotics you are currently consuming for other forms of disease in your body. There are three major types of antibiotic that can cause tinnitus, which are erythromycin, vancomycin and aminoglycosides.

The erythromycin contributes to tinnitus if you have taken 2-4 grams within 24 hours. Specifically, ringing in your ears will occur if this antibiotics was taken intravenously. The great news is that erythromycin can be taken orally and in lower dosages.

Vancomycin is also another antibiotic that can cause ringing sounds if taken intravenously. This is especially true when vancomycin is taken together with aminoglycosides. Finally, we will now discuss aminoglycosides.

Just like the previously mentioned, aminoglycosides are antibiotics that will also cause ringing sounds if it is taken intravenously. More pressingly though, is that aminoglycosides at wrong dosages can cause not only in loss of hearing, but loss of life as well. As at the moment of writing this article, pharmaceutical companies are currently monitoring the drug usage.

Then there is the aspirin as well as the other medicine that contains aspirin. Avoid eating six to eight pills in one day. The good thing about aspirin is that to revert the tinnitus effects, all one has to do is to simply stop taking aspirin.

If you are currently undergoing cancer treatment, it is good to know that some type of drugs become toxic to your ears during that period. To reduce this likelihood, do serial audiograms and sustain your medicine’s blood levels. Furthermore, it goes without saying that it is best to avoid taking as many toxic inducing medications as you can.

As with antibiotics, loop diuretics become toxic when they are given intravenously. NSAIDS, short for Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs is found in Advil, Motrin and Nuprin and just like aspirin, one should avoid taking 6-8 pills in one day. To cure your tinnitus sound, we would like to advocate that instead of trying medicine, opt for a more holistic approach such as those found in the highly raved e-book, Banish Tinnitus that is gradually but surely achieving cult status on the Internet for being fast, effective, economical and being a permanent solution to treating tinnitus.
